Bošáca

Bošáca (Hungarian Bošac - to 1902 Bossác ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1397 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Nové Mesto nad Váhom ( Trenčín Region ).

Geography

The municipality lies in the shadow of the White Carpathians by the stream Bosacka, a left tributary of the Waag, 10 kilometers north of Nové Mesto nad Váhom and 20 kilometers west of Trenčín located.

The municipality is divided into Bošáca vilage Bošáca and Zabudišová.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1380 as Bosach writing. According to tradition, the name of a former wooden monastery, which was inhabited by hermits, the only barefoot (Slovak Bosý ) were forwarded from. Bošáca long time belonged to the manor the near Beckov. In contrast to the neighboring communities Zemianske Podhradie and Trenčianské Stankvoce Bošáca was entirely a farming town. The place was known in the 18th and 19th centuries through the fruit growing: from there comes the still existing Sliwowitzbrennerei. Originally lying only in Považie part was inhabited, after the settlement of the underlying share in the White Carpathians in the 18th century the population grew steadily (1784: 2.146 inhabitants, 1900: 3,488 inhabitants in 1940: 4409 inhabitants), to the severance Nová Bošáca in 1950 and emigrate to the nearby towns that wrung this trend, so today is the population now stands at almost 1,400 inhabitants.
