Recordings

The prehistory to Boston began in 1969, when Scholz as keyboardist of the band Mother's Milk by guitarist Barry Goudreau, Brad Delp, the singer († 2007) and drummer Jim Masdea joined. Although the band did not last long, Scholz began in his private recording studio in order to record a series of demo tapes with self-written songs. At first he was mainly keyboardist and a technician and later he added the recordings adds more guitars. Finally, he got a recording contract with Epic Records.

When the band should audition for Epic, bassist Fran Sheehan joined the band. For the recording of the debut album in 1975 and 1976, the drums of Sib Hashian was occupied instead with Masdea at the request of the record company. Sib Hashian plays on all shots except rock and roll band. Only two recordings have posts by Goudreau and Fran Sheehan: Foreplay / Long Time and Let Me Take You Home Tonight.

Achievements

The album was very successful and is referred to in the United States today as the most successful debut album by a female music group, 17 million copies have been sold. Only Guns N 'Roses sold about a million more copies of Appetite for Destruction, whose status as a debut album, however, is controversial. Only Whitney Houston could beat this with their debut in 1986. The two singles More Than a Feeling Peace of Mind and landed on the front seats of the U.S. Billboard charts.

CD Remaster

In June 2006, Legacy Records released a remastered CD version. The tapes themselves were digitally remastered by Tom Scholz.
