Botamochi

Ohagi (Japaneseおはぎor御 萩) are small rice cakes ( mochi) of Japanese cuisine. Normally covered Anko paste rice cakes. They are made from rice, glutinous rice and Anko. You are a sweet dish that is offered as a snack at the reception or at the meeting.

There are different varieties of Ohagi, such as Kinako, nori, sesame, Zunda (the green soybean paste ) and others.

Botamochi (ぼたもちor牡丹 饼) are similar cake, but sometimes Ohagi be called. There are different views about the difference between Ohagi and Botamochi.

A common view is that Botamochi be made as forms of Botan flower ( peony ) and Ohagi ais forms of Hagi flower ( bush clover ) are made. The Botan bloom in spring and the Hagi bloom in autumn, so Botamochi be sold in spring and in autumn Ohagi.
