Botia

Botia histrionica

Botia is a genus of loaches ( Botiidae ). The fish live in rivers in Peninsular India, southern China and Southeast Asia including Sumatra, Kalimantan and Java.

Features

Botia species are, in comparison to other loaches, high backs, their body is laterally strongly compressed. The coloring is a pattern of vertical stripes in light and dark shades of brown. Your Suborbitaldorn is before or under the eye, is bicuspid and can be erected. Head and cheeks are no scales at the mouth sit three to four pairs of barbels. Botia species are eight to twenty inches long. You can create crackling sounds with which they are likely to express a claim area.

Originally about 30 species have been recorded to the genus Botia. After the spin-off of the new genera Chromobotia, Syncrossus and Yasuhikotakia today still belong to 13 species Botia:
