Bourdeau

Bourdeau is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Bourdeau is on 308 m above sea level. M., about 14 km north- northwest of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the northwest of the department of Savoie, just above the west bank of the Lac du Bourget, approximately opposite of Aix -les- Bains at the foot of the Dent du Chat.

The area of ​​4.83 km ² large municipality area (excluding Seeanteil ) includes a section on the western shore of the Lac du Bourget. The lake shore line is about 2 km long, with the southern riverside areas, the northern however, are relatively flat steep pronounced. From the shores of the lake community area extends westward up over the slope of Bourdeau and the densely wooded escarpment of the Chaîne de l' Epine. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1100 under the name Bordels. Later, the names board Ellis ( 1248 ), Bordex ( 1330) and Bourdeaulx (1568 ) published. The name goes back to the Old French word bordeau ( home, small farm). Since the High Middle Ages Bourdeau was the center of a dominion which belonged to the family of Seyssel and the Lords of Aix, was raised in the 17th century the Barony and always was under the protection of the House of Savoy.

Attractions

The parish church, whose origins go back to the 11th century, got its current look in the new construction in the 19th century. Even older is the castle, whose earliest construction was built in the 9th century. Over time, it has been modified several times and restored for the last time in the 19th century. Also worth seeing is the Grotte de Lamartine.

Population

With 572 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Bourdeau is one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. Since the early 1960s, a substantial population increase was recorded thanks to the beautiful residential area. Outside the old town center created numerous houses.

Economy and infrastructure
