Bowen is a small impact crater southwest of the Montes Haemus, at the edge of a small Mare called Lacus Doloris. It differs from the other, usually bowl-shaped, small craters due to its relatively flat inner bottom. Bowen was known under the name of Manilius A before it by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) was renamed in 1973. The crater Manilius is just south, on the opposite shore of Lacus Doloris.
