Montes Haemus

The Montes Haemus are a mountain range on Earth's Moon. They are surrounded by the mountains in the southeast Apenninus from Sea of ​​Tranquility, to the northeast of Mare Serenitatis and in the West.

The name was derived by Johannes Hevelius from the former Greek name for the Balkan Mountains ( " Haemus, mons Thraciae " ) and by the International Astronomical Union in 1961 officially established. The mountains are up to 2.4 km high, and the diameter of the fuselage mountain is about 400 km.
