Boyko Borisov

Boyko Borisov (also spelled Boiko Borisov Metodiev, Bulgarian Бойко Методиев Борисов; born June 13, 1959 in Bankja ) is a Bulgarian politician of the GERB party. He was from 2009 to 2013 Prime Minister of Bulgaria.

Life

Lieutenant-General Boyko Borisov graduated from the Academy of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry. From 1982 to 1990 he held various posts in the Ministry. Since 1978 he has been active with karate; at times he was coach of the Bulgarian national team.

In 1991, Borisov the personal protection company Ipon -1, which took over the protection of Todor Zhivkov and Simeon Saxe-Coburg Gotha, among others. In 2001 he was the supreme chief of police, or appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Interior and in 2004 promoted to lieutenant general. In 2005 he moved as a deputy of the party National Movement Simeon the Second one in the Bulgarian Parliament.

In the same year he gave up his parliamentary seat to run for mayor of the capital Sofia. In a runoff election he won against Tatjana Dontschewa by the BSP.

In March 2006, Borisov founded the movement " Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria " (GERB ), from which emerged the same party in December this year. However, in both organizations, he has no official position. Shortly after its founding GERB was the leading political force in Bulgaria. In May 2007, it achieved the highest number of votes in the elections for the European Parliament. In October 2007, Borissov was re-elected as mayor of Sofia. In the parliamentary elections on 5 July 2009 Borisov scored a further electoral success with GERB. The party was the strongest party in parliament and announced shortly after the announcement of the initial projections, an interest in a center-right coalition.

After the parliamentary elections in 2009 and defeating the ex-communists of the BSP Borisov said:

" In 1944 she have murdered my grandfather like a dog on September 16, and now I appreciate it when I rush from the throne. "

Boyko Borisov was elected on 27 July 2009 to the 11th Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria and is the second minority government since 1990. She was elected by about 67 % of the MPs. Apart from the GERB party still support the parliamentarians of the Blue Coalition, the party order, security and justice (short RZS ) and the nationalist Ataka formation of the government. The Ataka party, the " unconditional support " said, otherwise the old, corrupt status quo (Bulgaria was previously ruled by a grand coalition of the parties BSP, DPS, NMSS ) would be restored.

In early 2010 the party withdrew RZS, during the impeachment proceedings against the President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov, the support for the government Borissov and joined the opposition.

After persistent protests against austerity measures in population and electricity price increases Borisov became effective on February 20, 2013, together with his cabinet back. Finance Minister Djankov already had two days earlier abandoned his post.

Football career

Since Summer 2013 Borisov is available as a professional football player for the second division FC Vitosha Bistritsa under contract, for which he celebrated on the center-forward position on August 25, 2013 against Widima - Rakowski Sevlievo his debut. In 2011 he was ever elected to Bulgaria 's Footballer of the Year.
