Dimitar Iliev Popov

Dimitar Popov Iliew ( Bulgarian Димитър Илиев Попов ) ( born June 25, 1927 in Kula ) is a Bulgarian jurist, politician and former Prime Minister.

Study and career

Popov graduated in law at the Kliment of Ohrid - Sofia University, which he completed in 1950 with the graduation.

Later he worked as a legal consultant to various governmental organizations, before in 1972 he was a judge at the Sofia City Court. 1988 was classified his intention to create a federal lawyers by the communist authorities as a constitutional harmful. In 1990 he was appointed Vice-President of the City Court of Sofia.

Political career

Popov began his political career in 1990 after the collapse of the communist government of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. First, he was Secretary General of the Electoral Commission to conduct the first free elections to the National Assembly.
