Boys for Pele is the third album by Tori Amos. It appeared in 1996 as a follow-up album of Under the Pink with Atlantic Records ( within USA ) and WEA International (outside USA). With Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess is meant.
Tori Amos puts an album on which it besides the obligatory Bösendorfer grand piano and harpsichord ( Blood Roses, Professional Widow, Caught A Lite Sneeze, Talula ), harmonium (Hey Jupiter, Muhammad My Friend ) and clavichord ( Little Amsterdam) plays. The album deals with the fire that she stole various men in her life and the way to kindle their own passion. It is applied as a continuous history that indicates a novella -like development. It is about overwhelming desires and needs, and love. The recognition of one's own needs plays an important role for the Frauwerdung for Tori Amos. In their view, the Virgin Mary can not be a role model for a woman.
The first single Caught a Lite Sneeze was released at the same time free on the Internet and was the first experiment of its kind Nevertheless, this single was little noticed.
