Strange Little Girls

Strange Little Girls is the sixth album by Tori Amos. It was released on 18 September 2001 and was self-produced by her in her "home studio" in Cornwall, England, and even there mostly recorded. Due to a rift with the record company Atlantic Records wanted to controlling any more songs before her move to Epic Records. It was a pure concept album in which songs are exclusively gecovert of male spring. The peculiarity consists in the female perspective, which introduces Tori Amos in the respective songs. Accordingly, the songs are more " top-heavy " come and stand in contrast to her passionately argued versions of example Losing My Religion ( REM) or Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana ). In interviews, she liked to talk about the " power of words ", which they wanted to express on this album. The concept also includes the elaborate artwork of the album: Every song is illustrated by a photo on the Amos interpreted through clothing and packaging the content of the songs. Among them, each one corresponding set of Neil Gaiman.

During the ensuing tour ( "Strange Little Tour" ) were per evening usually played only three songs from the album. The concerts were always opened with 97 Bonnie & Clyde. It also managed to I Do not Like Mondays, to be quite often played Time and Rattlesnakes. Since 2003 Tori Amos plays songs from Strange Little Girls rare.

The single Strange Little Girl had to be pulled due to copyright infringement on the single - hull out of circulation and has not been reprinted.

The album reached # 4 on the Billboard charts in the USA.
