Brad Butterworth

Bradley William Butterworth, OBE ( born 1959 in Te Awamutu ) is a New Zealand racing sailor.

Butterworth is one of the best sailing tactician in the world and won the America's Cup four times. He won on the yacht Black Magic (1995, 2000) for New Zealand, and on the yacht Alinghi (2003, 2007) for Switzerland.

Butterworth as tactician Chris Dickson supported in New Zealand's first America's Cup challenge in the years 1986-1987 and Russell Coutts in 1992 in the regattas in the Louis Vuitton Cup.

He described his own role as tactician (English after guard) even in all modesty as follows: " My job is to observe the other boats When racing. I have to decide where we ought to be, in Which direction we ought to go, givenName the wind and the adversary 's position. "

After Russell Coutts leaving the team Alinghi he took over in 2004 in the position of a team skipper.
