Brad McGann

Brad McGann, MNZM ( born February 22, 1964 in Auckland, † May 2, 2007 ) was a New Zealand film director.

Life and work

McGann studied at the University of Otago and at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. After producing several productions for the Australian television was Brad McGann 2004 My Father's Den (In My Father's Den), internationally known. The film won the FIPRESCI prize at the Toronto International Film Festival 2004 and the Mercedes Benz Youth Jury Prize at the 52nd Festival Internacional de Cine de Donostia- San Sebastián in Spain in the same year, to nine New Zealand Screen Awards, including in the categories of Best director and Best Picture. 2005, the film received the Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival. In Germany came disappeared in late November 2006 in the cinemas As the sea. Brad McGann, who was considered one of the most talented young directors in New Zealand, died at the age of 43 years to cancer.
