Look at the fire head

The fire head is 945.2 m above sea level. NHN one of the highest mountains of the Black Forest. The mountain is located in Ortenaukreis in Baden-Württemberg to the municipalities of Oberharmersbach, Fischer Bach and Hausach, the tip itself is one of Oberharmersbach. The mountain forms the prominent mid-point between the valleys of the Kinzig, the wolf and the Harmersbachs.

The name of the fire head comes from a large forest fire in 1730. Prior to this event, the mountain was called Varnlehenskopf.

The fire head transport links with roads and trails (including Hansjakobweg II and connection to the western route, 3.5 km away ) well developed from different directions.

On the mountain, the transmitter is located Brandkopf.

Attractions

Since 1929, the 29 m high fire head tower, a stone observation tower that provides a panoramic view of the countryside of the Black Forest there, on clear days, to the Alps, the Vosges and the Swabian Alb. Prior to the establishment of the stone tower wooden predecessor already had existed.

The Black Forest club maintains on the fire head a youth hostel with an attached restaurant. The convenient location of the mountain with 5.8 m / s average wind speed is used by a wind turbine.

In the summer of 2002, the citizens windmill fire head was taken about 350 meters west of the migrant 's home in operation as a second wind turbine. This equipment generates on fire head over 2,000,000 kWh of electricity per year, putting it at the front of its class in Germany.
