Brandon Railroad

The Brandon Railroad (AAR reporting mark: BRR ) to 2006 Brandon Corporation (BRAN ) is a shunting railway company in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The Company is in possession of Rail Car America (RCA ), a subsidiary of The Greenbrier Companies.

The Company operates a rail network of about 3 km in South Omaha to the slaughterhouse site of the former Union Stockyards of Omaha. Transitions exist for BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.

With the change in the meat processing industry in the 1960s and 1970s, the slaughterhouse premises were largely meaningless. Following the sale of the territory to the Canal Capital Corporation of the operation of the South Omaha Terminal Railway was set ( a subsidiary of the Union Stockyards ) 1978.

Therefore, the Interstate Commerce Commission ordered an emergency service for the area. For this reason, adopted on 4 April 1978, Brandon Corporation on 28 km of track to run on. 1996 had the company for four locomotives ( an ALCO S-1, an ALCO S-3, an ALCO C -415 and an EMD NW2 ). 2006 was only the NW2 and EMD GP7 in a stock.

1981-1982 operated the company under the name " Brendon Corporation -West" the former section Bellville Manhattan Chicago, rock Iceland and Pacific Railroad ( rock Iceland ).

To 6 September 2006, in the wake of the takeover of RCA by The Greenbrier Companies, the Brandon Corporation were converted to the Brandon Railroad.
