Branislav Nušić

Branislav Nušić ( Serbian Cyrillic Бранислав Нушић; born Alkibijad Nuša; * 8 ​​Oktoberjul / October 20 1864greg in Belgrade. . † January 19, 1938 ) was a Serbian novelist, playwright, writer of satires and essays. He is the founder of modern rhetoric in Serbia. He also worked as a journalist and civil servant.

Life

Nušić came from a Wallachian family. At 18, he changed his name to Branislav Nušić. He studied law in Belgrade and Graz. In 1885 he took part in the Serbo-Bulgarian War. Because of his 1887 poem published Dva roba (two slaves ), the satirical with the King Milan grappled I., he was sentenced to two years in prison, but was released after one year from custody.

Nušić also used a literary pseudonym, Ben Akiba, especially for humorous feature posts for the newspaper Politika in the period before the First World War. He worked as a dramaturge and director at theaters in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Skopje and Sarajevo.

In the early 1930s he was professor of rhetoric at the Royal Military Academy. In 1933 he was elected a full member of the Serbian Royal Academy.

Nušić was a prolific writer who is well known for his comic spirit.
