Brazilian cruzeiro

Cruzeiro ( currency symbol: ₢ (Unicode 0x20A2 ), plural: " Cruzeiro ") was the name of various currencies in Brazil.

The Cruzeiro was introduced in 1942 because of the time already very high rate of inflation in the context of a currency reform and sparked the customary since 1690 original real in the ratio of 1000 to 1 Réis from Cruzeiro.

1967, this first Cruzeiro Cruzeiro from the New (Portuguese Cruzeiro Novo, ISO code BRP) was replaced, which was then changed back in 1970 in Cruzeiro. 1986, the second from the Cruzado Cruzeiro (BRC ) at the exchange rate in 1000 BRP = 1 BRC was replaced. The Cruzado followed 1989, the New Cruzado (ISO code BRN, conversion 1000:1 ).

1990 sparked the Third Cruzeiro (Portuguese Terceiro Cruzeiro, ISO code BRE ) from the New Cruzado in a 1:1 ratio. The third party Cruzeiro followed in 1993 then the Cruzeiro Real ( BRR ISO code, 1000:1 ), on the 1994 today ( 2013) still valid real (ISO code BRL, 2750:1 ) followed.
