Breakfast Club (Band)
Breakfast Club was an American dance-pop band from New York, who also initially belonged to Madonna. Her biggest success was the band in 1987 with the song Right on Track, a top ten hit in the United States.
History
The band was founded in the late 1970s by brothers Ed and Dan Gilroy in New York. Prior to her solo career was Madonna drummer of the band and romantically involved with both singer Dan Gilroy and with drummer Stephen Bray. Madonna left in 1979 and founded Breakfast Club with Bray and bassist Gary Burke the pop band Emmy. In 1987, Breakfast clubs first and only album, The Breakfast Club, the single release Right on Track reached # 7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and position 30 in the German charts. Their latest single, Drive My Car, a remake of the Beatles songs, appeared in 1988. During the same year, the band broke up.
