Stephen Bray

Stephen Bray is an American songwriter, drummer and music producer from Detroit. Bray is best known for his collaboration with Madonna.

Bray has the Saturn Sound Recording studios and the Soultone Records Recording Studios. He is married to the producer Stephanie Allain, who participated in the films Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan.

Career

Bray met Madonna in the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He studied music, they dance. Quick began a friendship between the two. They moved to New York City, where they were members of the band Breakfast Club. At that time they started to write their own songs. When Madonna got a record deal from Sire Records, began her business cooperation.

The songs composed Bray and Madonna, often followed the same structure. In the songs of the second chorus and bridge was always repeated before the song ended. Their collaboration ended after the production of Madonna's album Like a Prayer.

Bray made ​​his Broadway debut in 2005 as composer and lyricist for the Broadway version of Alice Walker's book The Color Purple. For his work on the play, he was nominated for a Tony Award.
