Bredevoort

Bredevoort ( Low Saxon: Brevoort ) is a town in the Dutch municipality of Aalten ( province of Gelderland), about 12 km north of the German city of Bocholt. The name is derived from brede Bredevoort Voorde (broad ford ). Bredevoort was a fortress city and dominion, as it lies at a strategically important point.
