Bréhan

Bréhan ( Breton: Brehant - Loudieg; Gallo: Berhaund - Lódeyac ) is a commune with 2334 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Bréhan located in the center of Brittany in the far north of the department of Morbihan on the border with the department of Cotes -d'Armor and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring communities are La Chèze and La Ferrière in the northeast, Plumieux, Saint- Étienne- du- Gué -de- l'Isle and Le Cambout in the east, in the southeast of Les Forges, Pleugriffet the southwest, Crédin and Rohan in the west and Saint- Barnabé in northwest.

The place is far away from roads for inter-regional traffic, because the municipalities in the north and east already belong to another department. The next major road connection is approximately 20 kilometers northwest of the community.

The most important waters are the rivers Oust and Lié and the Canal de Nantes à Brest. Along these waterways is partially on the municipal boundary.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro -Sant - Brieg (French Pays de Saint- Brieuc ), and within this region to region Bro Loudieg (French Pays de Loudéac ) and shares his story. From 1801 until its dissolution on 10 September 1926, she was part of the arrondissement Ploërmel. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801 Bréhan belonged to the Canton Brehan Loudeac.
