The airfield Milan Bresso is located in the northern Italian region of Lombardy, about ten kilometers north of the city center of Milan, on the territory of the municipality Bresso. The airfield is used by the Aero Club of Milan and the general aviation.

Transport links

The airfield is located in Milan's Northern Park ( Parco Nord Milano ) on the A4 motorway and on the multi-lane road SP 5 ( Via Fulvio Testi ). Three kilometers east of the airport closest train station of Sesto San Giovanni. From there, the city is accessible by Line 1 of the Metropolitana di Milano.

Infrastructure

The airport has a paved 1080 meter long airstrip, which runs in a north -south direction (18/ 36). In the west there is a parking area and maintenance hangars, to the east lies the former military part.

History

The airfield was built in 1912. During the first years he was sent to the two neighboring communities as " airfield Sesto San Giovanni " or "aerodrome Cinisello Balsamo " means. In the two world wars, the airfield was used by the military. The Breda built aircraft here and also formed pilots. After the Second World War until 1996 was Bresso base of the 3rd Army Aviation Regiment. Since 1927, the airfield was used by the general aviation. In 1960 he moved to the Aero Club Milan Milan Linate Airport to Bresso, because in Linate had no reasonable operating conditions more because of its airport expansion. 1965 paved the former grass runway in Bresso.
