Bret McKenzie

Bret McKenzie ( born June 29, 1976 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a New Zealand actor, musician, comedian and Oscar winner. He is the son of the New Zealand actor Peter McKenzie. Worldwide attention, he found, among other things, as a member of the comedy duo Flight of the Conchords Jemaine Clement at the side of and as a composer for the movie The Muppets.

Life

McKenzie was a musician in the band The Black Seeds and Karnivool. Under the pseudonym Video Kid, he released the album Prototype. He is also a member of the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra.

He had the most success as a member of Flight of the Conchords. The duo was on an international tour and has already released four CDs:

  • Folk the World Tour (2002)
  • The Distant Future ( 2007), which won the Grammy
  • Flight of the Conchords "( 2008), nominated for a Grammy
  • I Told You I Was Freaky (2009)

The Conchords have also produced a six-part comedy show for the BBC radio program and appeared in numerous talk shows on how Late Night with Conan O'Brien or Late Show with David Letterman.

Together with HBO produced the Conchords 22 episodes in two seasons of the television series Flight of the Conchords.

Bret McKenzie is seen as an extra in the first and third part of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy by Peter Jackson as Elf. His father is the actor Peter McKenzie, who embodies in the same film King Elendil.

In the 22nd season of The Simpsons McKenzie said a school psychologist

For the movie The Muppets Bret McKenzie composed five songs. McKenzie's Man or Muppet was in 2012 awarded the Oscar for best theme song.

In The Hobbit (2012/2013) he has assumed the role of the elf Lindir.
