Březina (Jičín District)

Brezina ( German Birkicht ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers west of Jičín and belongs to Okres Jičín.

Geography

Brezina is located north of the ridge Velišský hřbet in the mountains Jičínská pahorkatina the creek Velky Porák. North of the village lie the ponds Ostruženský rybnik and Turecká.

Neighboring towns are Ohaveč and Holín in the north, Hurychovna and Jicin Holínské Předměstí in the northeast, Jicin Pražské Předměstí and Jičín - Staré Město in the east, Jičín - Nové Město and Vokšice the southeast, podhradí in the south, Hlásná Lhota in the Southwest, U Rybníka in west and Ostružno in the northwest.

History

Brezina was first documented in 1393.

After the abolition of patrimonial Brezina formed with the district Hlásná Lhota 1850 a municipality in the district Jičín. Between 1878 and 1889 the community had with Na Karlově (now U Rybníka ) a second district, which was then affiliated to Hlásná Lhota. 1930 Hlásná Lhota broke loose along with Na Karlově and formed its own community.

In the course of municipal reform of 1960 Brezina was incorporated into Hlásná Lhota on January 1, 1961 and was on 1 July 1987, together with Hlásná Lhota a district of podhradí. Since 24 November 1990, the municipality consists Brezina again.
