Brian Collins Westbrook ( born September 2, 1979 in Washington, DC) is an American professional American football player in the position of running backs. He played with the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League ( NFL).

Career

NFL Draft

Westbrook was drafted in 2002 by the Philadelphia Eagles. At the time of his drafts he had three disadvantages: It was relatively small, was often injured and never played in a NCAA Division IA college team.

He was rarely used in 2002, but scored a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys. A small breakthrough came in 2003, when he was able to score a touchdown by a punt returns and so at the last minute his team to victory.

In 2004 he was invited to a strong season (812 rushing yards, 703 yards and caught nine touchdowns ) for the first time to the Pro Bowl. The Super Bowl he won with his team, however, against the New England Patriots.

Signed in 2005, Brian Westbrook a five -year contract with the Eagles. He then was injured on 6 December and could not play the rest of the season.

Also in 2006 was struggling with injury worries of running back. It was only on November 19, he could deny his first game. He was relatively fast, the key players on offense. At the end of the season he recorded 1,217 rushing yards, and could for the first time in his career offer the 1,000 - yard mark. Overall, he was able to achieve eleven touchdowns, the most in his team.

2007 continued the successful series. At the end of the season he had 1,333 rushing yards in 15 games to his credit, the second- most in the NFC and the third most in the NFL. Overall, he came up with 2,104 yards, which brought him near the team record also number one in the NFL. On 18 December, he was nominated for the second time in his career after 2004, for the Pro Bowl.

After the 2009 season he was released by the Eagles and has been committed in August 2010 by the San Francisco as a replacement for Glenn Coffee, who had recently finished his career.
