Bridge Across Forever is the second studio album by the progressive rock supergroup Transatlantic. It appeared in 2001 on InsideOut Music and Metal Blade Records.

Creation and publication

After a tour of America in 2000, the band members came together for four days with Neal Morse, together to write songs for a new album. This was taken in January 2001 in Nashville. As a guest musician Keath Mears (saxophone ), Chris Carmichael (strings ) and a choir were involved. Bridge Across Forever mixed by Rich Mouser and mastered by Vlado Meller at Sony Music Studios New York. The album was released in Europe via InsideOut, in the United States on Metal Blade. It also appeared in a limited edition DigiBook with bonus CD.

Tracklist and style

The songs on Bridge Across Forever were more composed together than the debut album SMPTe, yet the style of Roine Stolt and Neal Morse v. of a is still clearly visible in many passages. The varied retro prog of the album refers to models such as Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant, and The Beatles.

Reception

The press generally responded positively to the album. Ralf J. Günther of the Baby Blue Pages, it does find his " endless Aneinandergereihe of Allerweltsmelodien, rock empty formulas and Progklischees [ ... ] unbearable ," Jörg Schumann, however, says: "The bottom line Transatlantic offers nothing new, but in a perfect way. "Der Musik Express speaks of a" opulent, yes huge plate "and the eclipsed magazine chose Bridge Across Forever on the 30th place its list of the 150 most important prog albums.
