Bridge of Orchy

Bridge of Orchy ( Scottish Gaelic: Drochaid Urchaidh ) is a village in the county of Argyll in Scotland. Its name refers to the 1751 Built by Major Caulfeild bridge over the River Orchy.

Founded in 1751, the site consists of from a few houses, many of which are abandoned. A tourist hotel dominates the village, in addition, there are two hiking hostels and a pension. The only industry in town is tourism, mainly by walkers of the West Highland Way. Accordingly, the place for some years developed into a ghost town. The former elementary school is closed and dilapidated houses. Only seven people live in Bridge of Orchy.

The village lies on the A82 road at the head of Glen Orchy. The bus route between Glasgow and Fort William has a stop in Bridge of Orchy. Three times a day also keeps a train on the West Highland Line at the local train station per direction.
