Called Bridgeman Bridgeman 's also Iceland Iceland, Iceland Bridgman or Helen Iceland is a volcanic island in the South Shetland Islands.
The island is relatively isolated approximately 37 kilometers east of King George Iceland. It has dimensions of 600 × 900 meters and reaches a height of 240 meters above the sea. The name became established in 1820. When Edward Bransfield discovered the island on 22 January, he named it after a captain and later vice- admiral of the British Navy, Charles Orlando Bridgeman ( 1791-1860 ).
The volcano shows no activity in the recent past. However, some reports of possible activities from the 19th century could be related to the much younger Penguin Iceland.
