Cornwallis Island (South Shetland Islands)

The Cornwallis Island (English Cornwallis Iceland, sometimes called Michailoffs Island ) is a small sub-Antarctic island that belongs to the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands. It is about a mile long and is located east of Elephant Iceland. Its name from the island in 1821, shortly after the discovery of the South Shetland Islands. It is named after the British Admiral Sir William Cornwallis.
