Brienon-sur-Armançon

Brienon -sur -Armançon is a commune in the Yonne department in Burgundy. It lies on the River Armançon about halfway between Paris and Dijon.

Brienon -sur -Armançon has 3139 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) and is the capital of the canton Brienon -sur -Armançon, which consists of 10 municipalities. Worth seeing is the Collegiate Church of Saint- Loup from the 16th century.

Well-known personalities are Bézine Paul (1861-1928), a militant royalist and Jean -Baptiste Jollois (1776-1842), engineer and participants of the Napoleonic Egyptian expedition.

The town has been twinned with the German town of Konz ( Rhineland -Palatinate ), which has been sealed in 1965 and 1966 in Konz Brienon.
