Description

The building is located at the edge of a cemetery in the center of Largs. It dates from 1634 and was originally built for the Kelso family. In 1695 it became the family mausoleum of the Brisbane family. The masonry of the elongate, freestanding building is made of finely hewn stone blocks. Eaves eaves run. An heraldic shaped plate above the sealed portal on the east side has from the year of construction. It also shows the initials "PS" and "IS" by members of the Shaw family. On a decorated panel on the opposite side, the monograms "PS", "IM" and "IS" are listed. Various provided with cornices marble panels on the outer walls date from the 19th century. The steep pitched roof is covered with large slabs of slate. The gable ends project beyond the roof and have a higher inclination angle. This could be the result of conversion in the late 17th century.
