British Humanist Association

The British Humanist Association ( BHA) is a British Association for the Advancement of humanism. She is committed to secularism, human rights, democracy, equality and mutual respect. She is a member of the International Humanist and Ethical Union and the European Humanist Federation. Official Symbol is the Happy Human.

The BHA was founded in 1896 by Stanton Coit as Union of Ethical Societies. It supports the Darwin Day and advocates humanistic names for children. Since December 2012, Jim Al -Khalili, President of the BHA, until then the 2007 Selected Polly Toynbee had held this position.

2008/2009 the BHA supported together with the Richard Dawkins Foundation Atheist Bus Campaign, the British. The latter was based on an idea of the writer Ariane Sherine, who turned against the variety of religious campaigns.
