Bronisław Trentowski

Bronisław Ferdynand Trentowski ( born January 21, 1808 in Opole, † June 16, 1869 in Freiburg im Breisgau) was a Polish philosopher, educator, journalist and chief representative of the messianic national philosophy of Poland.

Life

Bronisław Trentowski was a graduate of Piaristen High School in Łuków, studied at the Warsaw University philosophy and philology, and was at the High School of Szczuczyn teacher of Latin language, history and Polish literature. With the outbreak of the November Uprising in 1830 he served in the Lancers and fled in 1831 as one of about 50,000 immigrants on Kaliningrad and Heidelberg to Freiburg to teach at the university, first as an assistant professor, then 1836-1840 with successful habilitation philosophy. His intention of returning to Poland, failed as he was from Posen and in 1848 expelled from Krakow to lively lectures in 1843. Back in Freiburg, he remained loyal to the city until his death in 1869 and wrote numerous philosophical works and magazines. In 1838 he was inducted into the Masonic Lodge to Freiburg noble prospect that shaped his work in the episode to end of life greatly; he held there committed the offices of speaker and chair of the Master.

Work

Trent Frankowski published his first work basics of universal philosophy in 1837 in German language while, starting with his Chowanna, first editions mainly drew up in Polish in 1842. Starting from a critique of the theses of Hegelianism and messianism Trentowski generated taking into account the Scottish and Schelling's philosophy by weaving and further the same a new framework. He also developed the concept of an idealist, so-called national philosophy, ie a philosophy that should take into account the particular characteristics of the people. He was supported by Cieszkowski herein, Liebelt and Kremer, but in particular by the Messianists Hoene - Wronski. One focus of his philosophy was universal, that is, the dissolution of one-sided interpretations, in particular the one-sidedness of the philosophy of realism versus idealism building, objectivism versus subjectivism of experience versus thought and of empiricism versus metaphysics. He made ​​an effort, in terms of his Masonic experience to build bridges between the apparent opposites and to obtain synthesis.
