Bruce Tuckman

Bruce Wayne Tuckman ( born 1938 ) is an American psychologist, organizational consultant and professor at Ohio State University. In 1965, he developed a phase model for group development, which he added in 1977 about a fifth phase (" adjourning ").

Life

Bruce Tuckman in 1960 earned a Bachelor of Science at Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 1962, he earned a master's degree in psychology at Princeton University and a year later a PhD there. Between 1965 and 1978 he held several post- doctoral positions at Rutgers University before he moved to the City University of New York. From 1983 to 1998 he was Professor of Educational Psychology at Florida State University. Since then passes Tuckman the Academic Learning Lab at Ohio State University.
