Bryan D. Brown

Bryan " Doug " Brown ( born 1948 ) is a retired general of the U.S. Army and was from 2003 to 2007 commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command ( USSOCOM).

Military career

Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts from Cameron University in History and a Masters in Business Administration from Webster University. He graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.

He undertook in 1967 for the U.S. Army and was employed as a private in the infantry. After he had completed the U.S. Army Airborne School and the qualification course for the U.S. Army Special Forces, he served in an "A - Team" of the command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

As a general, he served as an assistant division commander for maneuver tasks in the 1st U.S. Infantry Division ( Mechanized ) at Fort Riley, Kansas. Other uses were as Director of Planning, Policy and Strategic Reviews ( J5/J7 ) of the U.S. Special Operations Command ( USSOCOM), as Commanding General of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg and as deputy commander of USSOCOM at MacDill AFB. After he commanded the USSOCOM since 2 September 2003, he handed over on 9 July 2007 the command of Admiral Eric T. Olson and retired.

He had combat missions during the Vietnam War, Operation Urgent Fury and the operations Desert Storm / Shield.
