Brzeźno Szlacheckie

BrzeĹşno Szlacheckie ( Kashubian Szlachecczé Brzeżno, German nobleman Briesen ) is a village in the municipality Lipnica ( Liepnitz ) in the powiat Bytowski ( Buetow ) in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Name

History

The name derives Briesen apparently from the Slavic word for birch from, which speaks for a long time of existence of the place. The village is again Polish since 1945. Since then, it bears the name BrzeĹşno Szlacheckie. The " nobleman " attribute (Polish Szlacheckie ) leads the village by the way, because in the Knight settlement founded by kreuzritterlichem Lokationsrecht of 1375 in the 18th century about 80 % of the population were still Kashubian nobility. Since it was customary for the Lublin decree in 1569 that the needle has a nickname for the place names, by the possession was rose, the wealthy in Briesen gender of Spiczak, of Bastian, of Myk and Świątek gave the nickname " Brzezinski " ( means something like " from Briesen ").

1735 are mentioned in the land records of the circle Konitz as the owner of Noble Briesen: A) Christoph von Styp Rekowski, B) Stephan of Myk Brzezinski, C) Lorenz of Brzezinski, D) Magdalena Bastian Brzezińska (born of Rekowska ), E ) Nicholas of Lacki, F) Christoph von Schmude Trzebiatowski and G) Katharina von Chamier Gliszczynska (born of Spiczak Brzezińska ). Another Gutsanteil owned by Mathias Spiczak Brzezinski.

Today 505 people live in BrzeĹşno Szlacheckie. The village is north of the Great Brzynksee ( ger. Jezioro Brzezinek ) and southeast flanks of the Little Quesensee on which the mill is Briesener.

Culture

In 1983 an obelisk was erected to commemorate the second Siege of Vienna of 1683. Parts of the local nobility attracted at the time ( under the banner of Pomerania ) with the Polish King John Sobieski III. victorious in the battle.
