Bubenbergplatz

The Bubenbergplatz is a centrally located place in the city of Bern ( Switzerland ), it is located in the immediate vicinity of the station. The name was of course due to the Bubenberg monument, located since 1897 on the Bubenbergplatz. Today the place serves primarily as a transportation hub. So have several tram and bus lines here its terminus. The Burger hospital is also located in the Bubenbergplatz.

Location

The Bubenbergplatz opens to the west into the Laupenstrasse, in the north- west into the hill road, in the north-east of the railway station square in the east to the Hospital Lane, in the southeast in the scene and into the Christoffelgasse, in the south in the Swan Lane and the South East in the Deer Moat.

History

On September 9, 1896 council, set up the Bubenberg monument on the place then known as Christoffel place because of its proximity to the Christoffel Tower decided. On the opening day of the Bernese Cantonal Schützenfest, on 18 September 1897, the monument was unveiled. Since 1898, the place is called the monument according officially Bubenbergplatz. After a few years the monument was surrounded on its stone base with a decorative grille. The center of the square so got a new look. The trees were grown handsome and formed together with the monument to a focus. On March 23, 1930, the monument, on the occasion of a remodel, demolished and built up on 19 May in 1930 at its present location at Hirschgraben. At the original location of the monument was a tram patch panel. 1934, the transformation of the square was completed. In the years 1971 - 1976 the place was rebuilt again. It originated on the one hand, the subways and on the other hand, the tram station platforms.
