Buckfastleigh, Totnes and South Devon Railway

The Buckfastleigh, Totnes and South Devon Railway was a railway company in Devon in England.

The Company was incorporated on 25 June 1864 to build a railway from Totnes Buckfastleigh. The following year, Buckfastleigh, Totnes and South Devon Railway was awarded the concession for an extension of up to Ashburton. The 15 km long in the broad gauge of 2.14 meters built track was completed on 1 May 1872. The operation was for the South Devon Railway. In May 1892, the line was converted to standard gauge. The Great Western Railway acquired on 1 July 1897, for £ 22,450 the company.

Today on the section of Totnes Buckfastleigh done the operation of a museum and a tourist train through the South Devon Railway Trust, founded in 1991.
