Budapesti TC

The Budapesti TC, often short BTC was a gymnastics and football club in the Hungarian capital Budapest. In the years 1901 and 1902 he won the first two football championships of the Hungarian football history. It is believed that BTC also the Challenge Cup in 1910, one of the first major international tournaments won. Despite its large, early importance of the association, founded in 1885 but was re-dissolved in 1926.

History

The gymnastics club was founded on 9 May 1885. On 8 February 1897, the football section was launched, bringing the BTC, as the club was also called, is the oldest football club in Hungary was. Only a few weeks after the founding of the football department Budapesti Torna Club wrote Hungarian football history. On May 9, 1897 was held the first official football match in Budapest and Hungary with the game of two teams of BTC on the Millenary Square.

The Player of the Budapesti TC played from 1901 to 1904, from 1908 to 1915 and from 1917 to 1925 in the first Hungarian League. His greatest success of the club in 1901 and 1902 by winning the Hungarian Cup, which was then officially known as National Championship 1 Osztályú. The Game 1901 joined the club from even without defeat. Major contributory factor was the first Hungarian soccer star Miltiade Manno, who scored a total of 17 goals in the eight games of the championship.

With the finals in the Challenge Cup in the 1901/02 season, the club wrote also in the annals of Austrian football history. The final game itself, which was held on 19 May 1902 in Vienna, the Budapest but narrowly lost against the Vienna Cricket and Football Club. Controversial is to win the Challenge Cup in the 1909/10 season, as there are no official records of this season or searchable newspaper reports more. According to tradition, the Budapesti Torna Club is in the final of the competition the Wiener Sport - Club 2-1 defeated and have brought to the league rivals Ferencvárosi TC the Challenge Cup for the second time in the Hungarian Danube metropolis.

As in the 1909/10 season, a cup competition in Hungary was held for the first time managed by the BTC went straight to move into the final. However, the final was in two games against MTK Budapest with 1:1 and 1:3 lost.

The life of the club, despite its early founding and its successes, however, of short duration, Budapesti Torna Club was in 1926 but dissolved again.
