BuEV Danzig

The ball game and skating Club Gdansk ( Danzig BÜV short ) was a football club which is situated in what is now Poland Gdansk.

History

The club was founded on 18 April 1903 as Football Club Gdansk. In 1905 it was renamed the ball game and skating club after the sports activities of the association had expanded considerably. In 1908 was in the inaugural final of the Championship of Baltic Association, subject, however, with 00:11 VfB Königsberg. After two final defeats (1909 again against King Mountain (0-1) and 1910 against Prussia Sambia Königsberg (1:2) ) won one in 1912 for the only time the Baltic championship and was thus eligible as first Gdańsk team for the German championship final. There, they met in the first round of the Berlin TUFC Viktoria 89 and was defeated, 0-7. The following year, the Baltic BÜV was runner-up, the finals went again this time against Prussia Sambia lost with 1:7.

In the following years, in 1916 renamed VfL Gdansk Team reached in 1920 and 1926, the final round of the Baltic championship without being able to repeat the great triumph. In 1930 to rename the BÜV in Gdansk. At the end of the season 1932/33, the club was again in the Baltic finals. From the season 1933/34, the BÜV played in the first two-track Gauliga East Prussia, which was from 1935 to 1938 four-track. 1935/36, was the club in the final East Prussia, however, different in the group stage. For the first time he reached the main round of the Tschammer Cup, but retired in his first game with 2:3 nV against Hertha BSC in Berlin. 1937/38, it was again just before reaching the final round of the German Cup as one in 18 games 16 wins and two draws won through to the final. However, in the final, the team defeated Yorck Boyen Insterburg ( 0:2, 1:1) and thus missed the finals. From 1938/39, the BÜV belonged to the single-track Gauliga East Prussia. A recent success recorded the club in 1940 by reaching the fourth round in Tschammerpokal where they lost against VfB Königsberg with 1:5. One of the players at this time was Heinz Brauer. The club remained until recently in the Gauliga belonged there from 1941 to the newly created single-track Gauliga Danzig-West Prussia. After Russian forces in March 1945 conquered Gdansk, the club was disbanded.

Venues

The club initially played on the sports field of the Corps Clothing Office. Since 1916 BÜV Danzig played on the club's investment in the kingdom colony district.
