Buffignécourt

Buffignécourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Buffignécourt situated at an altitude of 245 m above sea level, 9 km east of Jussey and about 24 km northwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, on a hill overlooking the mouth of Ruisseau de Praget in the Ruisseau de Révillon, east of Saônetals.

The area of ​​6.27 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the east of the upper Saônetals. From northeast to southwest, the area is crossed by the Alluvialniederung the Ruisseau de Révillon, which provides for drainage Saône. The valley is on average 225 m and has a width of about one kilometer. In Buffignécourt flows from the north to the short side stream Ruisseau de Praget. Is flanked on both sides of the lowland plateaus which lie around 260 m. With 274 meters, the highest elevation of Buffignécourt is reached north of the town. In geological- tectonic terms, the terrain consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited on the merits during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). The area is used predominantly agricultural, larger forest areas exist along the town limits.

Neighboring communities of Buffignécourt are Venisey in the north, Contréglise in the east, and Amance Baulay in the south and Montureux -lès- Baulay in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Buffignécourt in 1209. The place name derives from the Germanic personal name Vulfingus and cort from the old French word ( homestead ). In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the monastery Faverney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Buffignécourt is a member of the 16- villages municipal association Communauté de communes de la Saône Jolie.

Attractions

The village church of Buffignécourt was rebuilt in the 18th century. It has a richly carved pulpit and an altar from the 18th century. At the three old town entrances are Calvaires, another wrought iron (18th century) located in front of the church and a stone in front of the Mairie ( Municipal House ). From the 19th century, the Lavoir whose roof is supported by numerous columns dating. It was once used as a wash house and livestock watering.

Population

With 119 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Buffignécourt one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881, 317 subjects were still counted ), was from 1975 to 1990 again recorded a slight increase in population. Since then is again observed a declining trend.

Economy and infrastructure

Buffignécourt is still a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, viticulture and animal husbandry ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Montureux -lès- Baulay after Amance. Further road links exist with Baulay and Contréglise.
