Bulgarian Railway Company A.D.

The Balgarska Schelesnopatna Kompania ( Bulg Българска железопътна компания ( БЖК ) transk. Bulgarska Železnopitna Kompanija ( BZK), Ger. Bulgarian Railway Company ) is a privately owned Bulgarian railway company. The BCC is competing with the much larger Bulgarian State Railways EAD BDŽ. BZK is a subsidiary of the private Romanian railway company Grup Feroviar Roman ( GFR).

Freight transport applies only to the railway line Sofia - instead Karnobat - Karlovo - Bourgas and the route Russe - Shumen.

In the over 100 -year-old Bulgarian railway history, the BCC is the second private railway company, which has received a license to railway operations in Bulgaria. The third competitor is the smaller private Bulgarian railway company Cargo Bull.

History

The BCC was founded in 2004 with purely private capital as the Bulgarian- Romanian railway company and received in 2005 the license for the railway transport. Business objective is the implementation of freight transported by rail both in Bulgaria and abroad. The company is based in Sofia. Chairman of the " Council of the directors " is Philip Rombaut. He is also Director of the company Agrochim and the former director of Jumikor in Pirdop. Executive director is Vladimir Duntschew who has accumulated many years of experience in the management of the Bulgarian State Railways.

First, the BCC led Goods transport by the locomotive 40-0177-2, which was rented in 2006 by the " group Feroviar Roman". 2006 and 2007 further locomotives of Romania's series were provided with a power of 5400 kW in service 40. In 2008, the BCC has its own 5 locomotives. The BCC has no suitable wagons. In the summer of 2007, the BCC bought from Britain two cars electric, four-axle locomotives of series 87 ( 87019-6 ). These pull the trains of the company " Jumikor - MED " ( Bulg Юмикор - МЕД ), Polimeri AG ( Bulg Полимери - АД ) and Sodi Devnya ( Bulg Соди - Девня ).

As a customer, is also referred to, based in Burgas subsidiary company "Lukoil Bulgaria" of Lukoil.

In the period 2005 to 2007 the share of BZK on rail freight transport of 0.06 % in Bulgaria rose to 7.71 %, mainly due to displacement of the Bulgarian State Railways, the largest Bulgarian railway company.
