Bumble Bee Slim

Bumble Bee Slim ( born May 7, 1905 in Brunswick, Georgia, † 1968 in Los Angeles, California ), actually Amos Easton, was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter, one of the most successful blues musician of the 1930s and earlier representatives of the Chicago blues.

After a troubled youth, sometimes in a circus, Easton came to Indianapolis in 1928, where he met Leroy Carr, who was the hottest blues duo of time with Scrapper Blackwell. Easton appeared under the name Bumble Bee Slim. In 1931 he made ​​his first recording in Chicago Chain Gang Bound. The following year he had with B & O Blues a hit.

Between 1934 and 1937 Bumble Bee Slim recorded more than 150 tracks, where he was accompanied by such well-known musicians like Big Bill Broonzy, Memphis Minnie and Peetie Wheatstraw.

1937 Slim returned back to Georgia. The early 1940s he moved to Los Angeles, where he hoped to gain a foothold in the film business. Soon he turned back to the blues. He took a few more albums and appeared in the Los Angeles area until his death, but could not connect to its previous successes.

Bumble Bee Slim probably died in 1968.
