Bundeseisenbahnvermögen

The Federal Railroad Fund ( BEV) is by the Railroad Restructuring Act ( ENeuOG ) of 27 December 1993 as a non- legal capacity investment funds of the Federal Republic of Germany with its own economic and accounting originated (Law on the merging and restructuring of the federal railways). The process belongs to the first stage of the so-called railway reform.

Since 1 August 2009, directs President Marie -Theres Nonn the BEV. In the head office and the offices of the BEV 750 employees, including employees work with service provision contracts, the BEV has a total of around 2,900 employees. The economic management (business plan volume currently around € 8 billion ) is subject to authorization requirements of the Federal Ministry of Transport and digital infrastructure ( BMVI ) in agreement with the Federal Ministry of Finance. The pension costs of BEV amount to 5.5 billion euros per year and will be funded by the federal government.

Structure

The Federal Railroad Fund is organized on two levels.

Tasks

The Federal Railroad Fund acts as employer for the Deutsche Bahn AG assigned or furloughed Federal Railroad officials. It takes over the care of approx. 173,000 pensioners. The BEV managed and utilized the non-lane necessary properties. It supervises the medical service / medical service (train doctors) - not to be confused with the company doctors of DB AG.

The following company social institutions of the Federal and the Reichsbahn be continued by the BEV:

  • Health care of the Federal Railroad officials
  • Foundation train social work
  • Railway house fire supply
  • Bahnversicherungsanstalt, since 2005 part of the pension Knappschaft- Bahn-See
  • Railway housing associations ( EEC)

The following are recognized self-help institutions BEV:

  • Foundation railway orphans Lair ( EWH )
  • Railway Agriculture ( BLw )
  • Association of German Railwaymen's sports clubs ( VDES )
  • Railway Central Office against the dangers of alcohol ( BZAL )
  • DEVK insurance
  • Sparda banks
  • Railroadman housing cooperatives ( EBG )

The BEV has further responsibilities in the real estate sector, especially the management and exploitation of non-operating former railway buildings that have been transmitted through the ENeuOG on the BEV.

Privatization

As part of the so-called railway reform 2001 18 Railway housing associations were together with 65,000 apartments in a bidding process from the Federal Railroad Fund - privatized to different buyers - up to a share of 5.1 percent, which remained with the BEV. Here, a net profit of DM 4.615 billion was achieved for the federal budget. The rail unions and the German Tenants' Association protested in vain against the sale, but were able to achieve the assurance that the apartments remain continue to receive the housing assistance as an occupational social service train.
