Burgazada

Burgazada (also Burgazadası, or Burgaz, Greek Αντιγόνη / Antigoni ) is the third largest of the Princes' Islands in Istanbul and belongs to the district Adalar.

The island got its former name Antigoni of Demetrius I Poliorketes who built a fort of the same name in memory of his father Antigonus I Monophthalmos.

Evliya Çelebi describes the island in detail in Seyahatname, a travelogue about the Ottoman Empire of the 17th century.

Burgazada is the site of many stories of Sait Faik Turkish writer who has lived on Burgazada. He is in honor of a museum on the island were established.
