Burhan (Arabic برهان, Burhan DMG ) is an Arabic male first name that occurs among others in Turkish and as a family name. It is also an epithet of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and one of his many names. Burhan is translated as proof ( of God), the term is a part of Islamic philosophy.

Burhan means " manifest evidence" and " irrefutable proof ", a connotation of the word in the Quran is " shining bright light ". An antonym is taqlid, " traditional recording" by an authority is followed. In Islamic folklore Burhan is sometimes wrongly as evidence of Karamat, the miracle of a saint, equated.
