Burkholderiales
Burkholderia pseudomallei on an agar plate in a Petri dish
The Burkholderiales form an order within the Betaproteobacteria. Due to 16s rRNA phylogenetic analyzes were summarized in this order in cell shape, metabolism and ecologically very different representatives. There are obligately aerobic to facultative anaerobic, chemoorganotrophic and chemolithotrophic bacteria present. This order also includes some human, animal and plant pathogenic bacteria, for example, various species of the genera Burkholderia, Bordetella and Taylor Ella. Bacteria of the genus Oxalobacter required as a carbon source of oxalic acid.
System
The order consists of the following families:
- Sutterellaceae
