Butler is the county seat of Butler County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania with about 15,000 inhabitants.

The city has an area of ​​7 km ². It is located in the center of the county and is surrounded by the Butler Township.

The city is named after Maj. Gen.. Richard Butler named who fell at St. Clair 's struggle in the west of Ohio 1791.
