Cable cars in Haifa

The Haifa Cable Car (Hebrew רכבל חיפה ) is an aerial cable car in Haifa, to the panoramic viewpoint at Stella Maris Monastery leads from the Mediterranean beach Bat- Galim Promenade at Mount Carmel.

Route

The cable car station is located next to a parking lot between the coast road to Tel Aviv and the beach. The hill station is located at the viewpoint on Mount Carmel between the monastery and the Lighthouse Stella Maris.

Technology

The cable car was built in 1983-1986 by Doppelmayr in cooperation with the Technion Institute in Haifa, the six cabins for every six persons were supplied by Swoboda. The drive station is located above the clamping station in the valley. Originally it was a gondola and the gondolas possessed an audio system that offered explanations of view during the journey. Meanwhile, the sound stops working and the web has been reconfigured to a single-wire group orbit with two groups of three cabins.

History

The cable car was built in the tenure of the Mayor Aryeh Goral and received because of their appearance soon nicknamed Goral eggs.

During the 2006 Lebanon war, came as a rocket up to Haifa, the operation of the train was stopped for safety reasons.
