Caetano N'Tchama

N'Tchama Caetano ( born 1955 ) was Prime Minister from 2000 to 2001 in Guinea- Bissau.

Political career

N'Tchama is a lawyer and studied in Portugal. It was in February 1999, Interior Minister of the transitional government of Francisco Fadul. After the election victory Kumba Ialás in the presidential elections in early 2000, he was on 19 February 2000. IALA As it belongs to the Partido para a Renovação Social ( PRS), which was the strongest party after the parliamentary elections in November 1999. N'Tchama was considered a close friend Ialás. In November 2000, his government was faced with a coup attempt Ansumane Manes, the initiator of the civil war in 1998 and 1998 and short-term heads of state in May 1999. Rebellion ended after a few days with the death of Manes. Public criticism of him and his government occasionally led to arrests.
